+44 (0)1438 415 718We're pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Cotton to the new role of 'Section Head - Flammability and Upholstery'.
Steve has a long affiliation with our flammability testing services and joined FIRA International back in 1999.
During that time he's gained vast knowledge of all the main flammability regulations, standards and test methods. He also delivers our suite of flammability training courses which focus on domestic furniture, contract furniture and beds and mattresses.
The role of FIRA International's flammability testing is a very key one, as the regulations and standards are complex subject, alongside being some of the strictest in the world. They are also a legal requirement for domestic upholstered furniture.
Steve now oversees the department and their UKAS accredited testing for:
- Fabrics
- Mattresses
- Fillings
In addition the flammability department also test to the Irish Regulations S.I. No. 316/1995 - Industrial Research and Standards (Fire Safety) (Domestic Furniture) Order, 1995 and the California TB 117-2013 Requirements, Test Procedure and Apparatus for Testing the Smolder Resistance of Materials Used in Upholstered Furniture.
